Week 2 NFL Power Rankings: It’s so Sunny in the D

Early-season volatility is a hallmark of these rankings. Until we get a larger sample-size to work with, there will be much shuffling from week-to-week. Expect that each week things will seem a little more consistent as averages begin to settle down a little bit more.

You can yell and scream all you want about the Lions, but they are absolutely ROLLING fools right now. Yes, I know that Tampa Bay (24) and Kansas City (32) aren’t exactly New England and Green Bay, but you can only play who is on your schedule, and the Lions are handling their business the way good teams do; by kicking their asses like the miserable pukes they are. I have no problem if the formula determines that a team averaging 37.5 points for per game to 11.5 points against and a +6 turnover differential gets the top spot.
km
The Steelers jumped up nine spots to 22 this week after their relatively impressive shutout of the Seahawks. They are ranked as the fourth worst 1-1 team in the league, which given their performance in week one isn’t all that unfair. They’ll continue to struggle in these rankings as long as they continue to sport that -7 turnover differential and woeful -2.0 point differential per game.

Biggest movers
  • SAINTS (up 14 spots from 21 to 7)
  • 49ERS (down 12 spots from 5 to 17)
  • CHARGERS (down 12 spots from 8 to 20)
